Martin Grover

Since graduating from the Royal Academy Schools sometime last century Martin has worked consistently at his crafts of screen printing and painting. He is largely influenced by English Romanticism and American Realism. Within these figurative traditions Martin’s work merges elements of musical nostalgia, procrastination, elegiac decay with every day observations, childhood recollections, wild flowers, short stories, bus stops, poems, sheds and shelters. It is a body of work that at first glance appears disparate. It is wry, whimsical and humorous but in turn reveals an enigmatic heart and a melancholic soul; cultivating an evolving but coherent view from the flotsam and jetsam of the passing world.
