Alex Beattie

Mythical dreamscapes, constructed from multiple hand-drawn elements to create a lush graphic unity.

Alex Beattie is an artist and printmaker, living and working in North London.

Each work unfolds a mythical dreamscape, constructed from multiple hand-drawn elements to create a lush graphic unity.  They are brought to the page through a painstaking manual printmaking process that builds up layers of transparent colour and gold leaf to produce a unique dense vibrancy.

He has exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibitions in 2021 and 2022, and received a solo show award from The Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers at the International Original Print Exhibition 2022.

Inspiration comes from everything and anything – Byzantine mosaic to socialist poster art; Cimabue to instant ramen; Hokusai to video games.
