Ricky Byrne
Ricky Byrne is a screen printer whose work focuses primarily on found archive material, subject studies and mixed media
Ricky Byrne's work is a masterful three way love affair between colour, geometry and movement.
A screen printer by trade, Ricky's abstract work leverages a technical command of the medium to contain and coerce the unpredictable flow of ink mixing live on screen to create evocative sweeps of colour in transition.
These evocative works are variable editions where each piece is a unique execution, a snap shot of ink's journey from disparate colour transitions to homogenised blends.
His prints transport you on a journey of your imagination and memory, evoking feelings of joy and helping the viewer reconstruct important periods in time.
Based in London, Ricky Byrne is a screen printer whose work focuses primarily on found archive material, subject studies and mixed media. His work marries digital and handmade mediums, centuries old images and ideations with a contemporary print and design considerations.
His work has been selected for the 2018 and 2019 Royal Academy Summer Exhibitions and Print Club London’s 2019 Blisters show ‘Way Back When’. Ricky runs a commission based screen printing service We are Inky Fingers at his studio in Hackney.
